GEORGIA POST-CONVICTION INNOCENCE CASES

Deirdre O'Connor is licensed in Georgia since 2006.  While serving as the Director of the Indigent Criminal Defense Clinic at Emory Law School, Deirdre learned of a horrifying case of apparent injustice - the case of Mr. Troy Davis.  This death row inmate has a compelling case of innocence and yet he remains on death row - indeed, he came within hours of execution four times!

If your loved one is currently incarcerated after being wrongly convicted for a crime in Georgia, please let Deirdre know about it by submitting the "
Innocent in Georgia" form.

There are four ways Deirdre may be able to help:

  1. She may be able to represent your loved one on appeal/habeas for a reasonable fee.
  2. She may be able to suggest a qualified local attorney, law school clinic or other pro bono legal service provider to assist.
  3. For a modest flat fee, Ms. O'Connor can review any record (transcript, appellate briefs, etc) and provide an assessment of the innocence claim and what options are available for your loved one.
  4. Ms. O'Connor is starting a non-profit organization, Innocence Matters, which will operate in conjunction with one or more law schools to provide pro bono assistance to a very select number of innocence clients.  Qualifying cases will be forwarded to Innocence Matters for consideration once the project is fully funded and operational.
